Daily Witness Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 28, 2026
Daily Witness is a free hobby app published by Michael Shawn Myers. It is a daily puzzle: guess a biblical figure from three clues. This policy describes what the app does with information.
We do not collect an account
There is no sign-in, no email list, and no profile on our servers. The app has no backend of its own.
What stays on your device
Play history (which calendar days you played, whether you were correct, points, and streak) is stored only on your iPhone or iPad using Apple’s on-device storage (SwiftData).
The optional Home Screen widget reads that same on-device summary (date, points, streak). It never shows the day’s name or clues.
You can delete this data by deleting the app.
Export and import
You may export a scores file and import it on another device you own (for example after a phone upgrade). You choose where that file goes. We never receive it.
Sharing
If you tap Share, the system share sheet sends only spoiler-free text you choose (date, correct or incorrect, points, streak — not the name) to an app you pick, such as Messages. We do not see those messages.
What we do not do
- No ads
- No tracking across other apps
- No sale of personal information
- No analytics SDK
- No location tracking
Bible text
Verses shown after a guess are from the World English Bible (WEB), which is in the public domain. Daily Witness does not use NIV.
TestFlight and App Store
If you install a beta through Apple TestFlight and you opt in, Apple may send crash logs and usage diagnostics to the developer through Apple. That is Apple’s system, not a server we run.
Children
Daily Witness is a general-audience puzzle. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
